Burton Class

The classes in Powerstock School are named after Dorset beaches.  Our class is named after Burton Bradstock beach and it includes Reception class as well as Year 1 and Year 2.  Our teacher is Mrs Angela Oxenbury and she is assisted by Mrs Claire Merritt.

The classroom is divided into two sections, one for Reception Class and one for years 1 and 2.  The classroom has a wealth of resources and activities for pupils and includes a role play area, a book corner and secure outdoor garden with water play stations and much more!

We have lots of colourful displays to help us to remember key spellings, our numbers to 100 and our phonics. We use lots of equipment to help us understand maths including numicon, base 10, 10 frames, money, bead strings and number lines.

The class follows the EYFS curriculum for Reception class and Key Stage 1 curriculum for Years 1 and 2.

Topic work is carried out over a two year rotation with Space always being a firm favourite with staff and pupils alike!

We are hardworking, caring and try to be kind towards each other.  We enjoy working as a team to tidy the classroom and to be ready for the end of the day as well as supporting each other in our learning.

We understand that we come to school to learn and we try to help one another to ‘be the best that we can be!’
