The All About Me unit brought French to life for Cogden Class, giving Year 3 and 4 pupils a fun and practical introduction to the language through movement, music, and creativity. From following classroom instructions to naming body parts and colours, children built confidence in listening and speaking, supported by songs, rhymes, and interactive activities. Lessons were lively and engaging, with pupils responding to action words, miming vocabulary, and even using puppets to reinforce learning.
As the unit progressed, the focus shifted to clothing, where pupils explored vocabulary through dressing up, role play, and model-making. They began to understand gendered nouns and used simple conjunctions to describe what they and others were wearing. By the end, many were confidently asking and answering questions in French, reading and writing key words, and even using dictionaries to expand their vocabulary. It was a vibrant, hands-on unit that sparked curiosity and laid strong foundations for language learning.
