Joining our school

Applications

We warmly invite parents, with or without their children, to visit Powerstock School. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Headteacher, pupils, and staff, and to experience our vibrant school environment firsthand. To arrange a visit, please contact the school office by telephone at 01308 485380 or by email at office@powerstock.dorset.sch.uk.

Catchment Area

Children residing in the catchment areas of Powerstock, Wytherston, Poorton, Loscombe, West Milton, and Nettlecombe are entitled to attend our school, subject to the year group size limits set by Dorset Local Authority and the school governors. We also welcome pupils from Bridport and the surrounding areas.

Application Process

All applications for September enrolment must be submitted through the Dorset Admissions Service. You can apply online at Dorset School Admissions or by contacting the admissions team via email at admissions@dorsetcc.gov.uk or by telephone at 01305 221060.

A copy of our Admissions Policy is available from the school office or can be accessed on the Policies page of our website.

Starting in Our Primary School

Our new reception children typically attend morning sessions only during the first week of Autumn Term to help them settle into their new classroom environment. However, we are flexible and happy for children to attend full-time from the start if that suits them best. We will discuss and agree on the best approach for each child with their parents.

When a child first starts at Powerstock School, parents will be required to complete admissions and medical forms, along with basic permissions for the use of images, walks around the village, and an Acceptable Use Agreement for IT. Additionally, parents and children will be expected to sign a Home/School Agreement, which should be discussed thoroughly with your child.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school community soon.
