Cogden Geography: How can we live more sustainably?

Cogden Class have been exploring one of the most important questions of our time: How can we live more sustainably? Through hands-on investigations, lively discussions, and creative projects, the children have discovered what sustainability means and why it matters for our planet. They’ve compared renewable and non-renewable resources, surveyed our school’s eco-friendly practices, and even designed action plans to make positive changes. From creating posters and persuasive paragraphs to planning real-life improvements, every activity has helped them understand how small choices can make a big difference.

As geographers and writers, the children have developed their skills in observation, analysis, and communication. They’ve learned key vocabulary such as sustainable, renewable, resource, energy, pollution, habitat, and climate, and applied these words confidently in their work. The unit culminated in persuasive formal letters with focusing on aspects like “Why our school should use solar panels,” where pupils used powerful language and rhetorical questions to inspire change. We are so proud of their curiosity, creativity, and commitment to building a greener future – Cogden Class are true sustainability champions!
