It’s All Change! How Can We Manage It Positively?

We began the week, focusing on ourselves and how unique we are. We had a go at writing down 3 things we liked about ourselves. However, we all found this quite hard so we switched tactics. Each person was given the opportunity to state something positive about each of their classmates. We enjoyed spending time perusing our own envelope full of comments. This was very special and personal to each of us.

The topic explored how we and society as a whole have changed. We explored the nine protected characteristics and discussed scenarios where discrimination could happen. We drew posters to challenge stereotypes such as car racing for girls, netball for boys, make-up for both.

We explored changes that have happened to us , both positive and negative, including those which are completely out of our control. We looked at a story and discussed the ‘helpful’ and ‘unhelpful’ responses that could be made. Hopefully, we will feel equipped to manage change in the future. Some of our diary entries have recorded changes we have experienced as well as how we felt about this topic. We all felt it was a very helpful topic to have explored, especially as we approach the end of our school year.
