We spent a week looking in more detail at the characteristics of all organisms, focusing first on observable characteristics.
In the school grounds, we identified all living things in various micro habitats such as log piles, tree, undisturbed grasses at the top of the school hill, grassy areas on the playground and the school garden. We wrote reports on our findings and drew detailed drawings of the creatures spotted.
We learnt about the importance that each organism plays in their habitats and learnt about food chains: what producers, primary/secondary and tertiary consumers are and how energy passes up the food chain.
Having considered a specific food chain, we wrote a report about these ecosystems and how living things adapt to their environments. The reports required a passive sentence and a relative clause as part of our ongoing English skills that we are applying more readily to our written work.
Great work this week, Seatown!
