Cogden RE: Sikhism – Guru Nanak

Week Beginning 9/6/25

The Sikhism: Guru Nanak unit offered Cogden Class a meaningful exploration of faith, equality, and compassion through the life and teachings of Guru Nanak. Year 3 and Year 4 pupils began by discovering who Guru Nanak was and why he remains such an important figure in Sikhism. Through storytelling, symbol work, and group discussions, they explored his core messages of kindness, service, and respect for all.

As the unit progressed, pupils deepened their understanding by asking thoughtful questions, creating storyboards of Guru Nanak’s life, and reflecting on how his teachings still resonate today. By the end, they had developed thoughtful journal entries and reflections, gaining not only insight into Sikh beliefs but also a broader appreciation for values that unite communities across the world.
