Our Easter Journey morning Wednesday 6th April 2022

With some restrictions due to the pandemic still in place, we approached our Easter celebrations in a slightly different way. The aim was to focus on aspects of Easter in a variety of creative ways including: using our environment giving opportunities for personal reflection giving opportunities for thinking and responding to questions and other stimuli to enable children to consider Bible verses including our mission verse ‘to live life in all its fullness’ – John 10:10 to deepen our understanding of Christian values

After hearing the Easter story read out, the whole school in 5 groups visited different ‘stations’ where there was an activity to do, a Bible verse to reflect on and an opportunity to consider a question.

Journey sticks. Bible verse: ‘I will teach you the way you should go. I will instruct you and advise you.’ Psalm 32 v 8. Question: ‘What was Jesus’ journey? How would you describe it?

We went on a short journey to the church grounds, collecting items on the way. We tied our journey items onto a stick as a record of the walk.

Seed Planting Bible verse: ‘Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him.’ Colossians 2 v 7. Question: How does seed planting relate to the Easter story?

We recycled tin cans by planting them up with soil and seeds. We labelled and decorated them.

Flags of Peace We learnt that only 2 countries in the world use the olive branch ( a symbol of peace) – Cyprus and Estonia. We designed our own peace flags that included the olive branch. Bible verse: ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Psalm 46:10. Question: How did Jesus bring peace?

Provision Bible verse: I have come that you may have life, life in all its fullness.’ John 10 v 10. Question: What has Jesus provided for us?

We chose a bird, insect or flower to decorate to demonstrate the beauty and variety p

Prayer and reflection. Bible verse: is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. James 5 v 13

We all regrouped and gathered together around our conker tree where we spent time looking and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. We had our own quiet time of reflection before writing our own prayers.

This was an opportunity for us all to enjoy the meaning of Easter in a different way and how the Easter story is one of great joy, comfort, awe and hope.
