Our local Railway – a History and Geography focus.

On the 3rd November 2023, Seatown Class visited Bridport to explore how the railway developed and the impact it had on the town and nearby West Bay.

We began by recording and mapping the buildings in the main streets. This proved tricky to record without tables and chairs!

We then visited the Bridport Museum to find out more about the history of the railway line, it’s development to West Bay and then it’s decline 80 years ago.

Here are a few facts and photos that we viewed. It was fascinating finding out about our local area.

After lunch we walked along the old railway route to West Bay. We noted how the shops and buildings reflected a more touristy destination……

….before we enjoyed the West Bay play park!

We have lots to work on when we get back to class!
