A visit from the Benedetti Foundation

On the 11th October, KS2 hosted a visit from the Nicola Benedetti Foundation. This gave us all an opportunity to meet people who are so passionate about music, learn some skills from them and listen to their compositions on instruments we had never seen before being played live.

We learnt about the cajòn drum, hoiw it works and how the sound can be changed.

We then had a go at playing some games and trying to keep the beat whilst saying the opposite of what you want to audience to say!

We learnt about the vibraphone. It is a beautiful sounding instrument….

We discussed how music can evoke many emotions and we tried to guess what emotions were being ‘played’.

Then it was Callum’s turn to play for us…

A wonderful way to start the day and an experience of something new which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
