Paper Clay Greek Masks

Today, Seatown explored a new medium in art …  paper clay. Paul Cleden, a local artist, spent the day with us and helped us explore faces. We learnt the proportions and positions of features of a face. We also looked at masks that would have been used in Ancient Greek theatre. We discovered how elements of the faces and expressions are emphasised.

After break, we had a go at drawing exaggerated facial expressions from pictures and each other!

We appraised each others’ work.

And then it was time to begin the paper clay work…..

And this is what we achieved!! …….Next step, wait for them to dry and then paint them!
